Announcing! The launch of the Peerspace drop-in...
ABOUT
in2gr8mentalhealth is a centre for valuing, destigmatising and supporting lived experience of mental health difficulties in mental health professionals. We are all human and mental health difficulties and the use of mental health services, are common in our human population and in our professions, no matter what role you hold. It is only how we understand and engage with mental health that matters, which takes compassion and a good look at systems, in the face of a subject that has been stigmatised for as long as we can all remember.
in2gr8mentalhealth is powered by its peer network of mental health professionals with lived experience. It gives support and a range of offerings, working with all pillars of the mental health scene.
Through our work as a professional community who know vulnerability, we promote narratives of hope, strength, solidarity and lived wisdom as professionals. We always have a keen eye on the necessary evolution of systems and workplace culture as an integral part of our work. Peers and system together hold the ability to make real our dream horizon - that point where the hope of destigmatising meets earthy possibility: we work in collaboration for the integration of natural human vulnerability as a precious evolution for a better Way in our mental health provider sphere.
We acknowledge and support the struggles of our kindred mental health service users fighting epistemic injustice to achieve truly co-produced mental health systems in the UK. The more we can encourage owning our own vulnerability as human beings in our mental health professions, the more we will be able to shift damaging Us /Them polarities and power imbalances in the mental health field at large.
Peers
We offer individual and PeerSpace group support and mentoring. We have a keen eye towards structural stigma and the fitness to practice of our mental health workplace system on this issue. We help you feel connected and find a place to belong and be in community. We support considerations of your sharing narrative, working resonances, nourishment needs, activist wishes, and the value of your lived experience in your professional role.
Training Courses
We work with professional training courses to destigmatise and promote the value of lived experience during professional training, give attention to the nourishments needed for a diverse workforce, through reflective work, critiquing systems, and interactive workshops for trainees and course staff.
Professional Bodies
We work with professional bodies to contribute to the development of position statements, policies and guidance aimed at structurally supporting, destigmatising and valuing lived experience of mental health difficulties in the mental health professions. This is about culture evolution.
